My Trip To Bruno Saskatchewan

This week, I was invited out to Bruno School in Bruno, Saskatchewan, to give two author presentations. Bruno is located about 80 km northeast of Saskatoon, which is where I live. It was a beautiful, sunny autumn day – perfect for a lovely drive through the prairies. I enjoyed the drive almost as much as I enjoyed meeting the students and teachers at Bruno School.

Principal Lianne Bortsmayer applied to the SWG (Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild) for help to finance my visit. The SWG has a program called Author Readings Program, which helps schools and libraries around the province, bring in authors in to speak to children and adults, to talk about their books and writing, and to read from their books. This helps promote the authors and their books, but it also can be an inspiration for children and adults to read, read more, read A LOT and write!

I LOVE doing these author visits. They fill my bucket and nourish my soul. I love meeting students (and adults) who have read one of my books – or are in the middle of reading one of my books. They are excited to meet me and often have great questions. Sometimes they even give me ideas of other books and stories I should write! I am inspired to keep writing and keep doing these author visits. Thank you, Bruno School students and teachers, for a wonderful visit! And, keep reading!
